CIFFI 2019
CINEASTE International Film Festival of India – CIFFI is being organised by Delhi Metropolitan Education, Noida, India (www.dme.ac.in) in association with Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia (www.deakin.edu.au) from April 17th to 20th 2019.
It’s objective is to promote cross culture films in different categories and bring together artistically inclined minds, specially the young minds to enhance their thinking and creativity.
CIFFI2019 is going to be showcasing some of the beautifully curated segments of Australian and Indian regional cinemas, potraying the rich essaence of the diverse cultures, thereby giving more insight into human eliments existing in different parts on the same planet.
It is also a platform for deliberations on cinema and its various aspects through workshops and special sessions by eminent experts.
CIFFI is inviting entries from college students, student film makers and independent filmmakers from accross the globe in the following categories:

EMINENT EXPERT
Dr. Vikrant Kishore, Course Director – Film, Television & Animation and Senior Lecturer in Screen and Design at the Faculty of Arts and Education, Deakin University. An alumnus of prestigious institutes like RMIT University—Melbourne, AJK Mass Communication Research Centre—Jamia MilliaIslamia and St. Stephens College—Delhi University, India, Dr. Vikrant Kishore is an Academician, Filmmaker, Journalist, and a Photographer. He has been associated as a Lecturer, Filmmaker, Photographer, News Correspondent and Media Consultant with various institutes and organizations like Channel 7, Deakin University-Australia, December Films, ABC Channel (Australia), Channel 31, Delhi University, ZEE TV, ZEE NEWS, BRAMWEL-DRACHE, Delhi Press, Heuschen&Schrouff (Netherlands) and Imaginations Ink (USA). Dr. Kishore is a member of international professional and cultural bodies like Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR, India), International Dance Council (CID-UNESCO), Consultancy Development Centre (CDC-INDIA), and ANCT-France. Dr. Kishore has more than 25 documentaries, and corporate films to his credit, and his area of expertise are Bollywood Films, the folk and tribal culture of Eastern India, as well as the issues of caste politics in India. His documentaries on ‘Chhau Dance’ have been screened in various international film festivals.
Mr Simon Wilmot, Associate Head of School (International and Partnerships), School of Communication and Creative Arts, Faculty of Arts and Education, Deakin University, Melbourne. Simon teaches film production and is the Course Co-ordinator of the Masters of Digital Film. He also runs international study experiences for film students such as study tours to India and the USA and opportunities for students to make films in international contexts. He is currently interested in making films about processes of memory and imagination in the construction of identity and a sense of belonging. From 2003 to 2005 he produced, filmed and edited a documentary feature, ‘Kotla Walks, performing locality.’ The film engages with metropolitan meanings in India through wandering the streets, footpaths, courtyards, bedrooms and sitting rooms of the urban village of KotlaMubarakpur. Simon teaches film production and is the Course Co-ordinator of the Masters of Digital Film. He also runs international study experiences for film students such as study tours to India and the USA and opportunities for students to make films in international contexts.
Ms SaaraLamberg, Eminent filmmaker from Australia and director of Innuendo. She is a Finnish and Australian filmmaker, director, writer, producer and actor currently working in Australia. Her most notable work to date is the feature film Innuendo, which is written, directed and produced by Lamberg and was released theatrically in October 2017 in Melbourne.
Mr Khalid Mohamed, Celebrated Journalist, Editor, Film Critic, Screenwriter and Film Director, he is an Indian journalist, editor, film critic, screenwriter and film director. He formerly worked for the Hindustan Times and was the lead editor for Filmfare magazine. He is the son of Hindi film actress Zubeida Begum, on whose life he wrote the screenplay of ShyamBenegal’s 2001 film, Zubeidaa. Mr. Khaled Mohamed has worked as a Director on films such as Silsiilay (2005), Tehzeeb (2003), Tareekh (2003) and Fiza (2000). In addition, Mr. Mohamed has worked as a Screenwriter in films Zubeidaa (2001), Sardari Begum (1996) and Mammo (1994). As a writer, Mr. Khalid Mohamed has written the biography of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and veteran actress Asha Parekh.
Dr Gauri D. Chakravorty Joint Acting Head, Amity School of Communication, Amity University, Noida, An alumnus of FTII. She graduated from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and has been a part of the Audio-Video Industry since 1995. With the distinction of being awarded ‘Dada Saheb Phalke’ Memorial Student Award along with a scholarship at FTII, she has worked with prestigious institutions like BBC WST & DD Metro. She was the Associate Producer for the award winning film ‘Sheep Thief’ (1997). At present, Gauri heads the Amity School of Communication in Noida. She has been a media educator for the last 13 years and her research interests are Feminist film theory, spectatorship studies and female auteurs. Trained in ‘Kathak – Indian Classical Dance’ by world renowned maestro, Guru Jitendra Maharaj, Gauri founded the social movement Vansh Vyom which relooks at traditional arts from the point of view of matriarchal inheritance. In 2018, she was awarded Womennovator 100 Women Faces. She has been the Festival Director of the 15th edition of the IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival 2019.
Ms Anandana Kapur, an award-winning filmmaker and founder director, CINEMAD India. She is a filmmaker and social scientist based out of New Delhi, India. She has previously worked in broadcast television and is a published author on Culture, Communication Paradigms and Film Studies. As part of a cultural diversity initiative, Anandana holds lectures on Cinema and Culture for exchange students from US, Canada and Europe. Ms. Kapur has won the Bharat Nirman Award for commendable contribution to society and commitment to work and the Delhi’s Young Achiever Award from FICCI Ladies Organization. Her latest works include a group exhibition on “Re-envisioning” in Nicosia, Cyprus and the critically acclaimed and award- winning documentary The Great Indian Jugaad. Anandana’s documentaries explore the sub-cultures of gender, identity and ritual practice in India. Anandana’s films ‘Much Ado About Knotting’ , ‘ChambaNede Aa ki Door’, ‘The Great Indian Jugaad’ and ‘Blood on My Hands’ have received awards and critical acclaim.
Ms Aradhana Kohli Kapur, known filmmaker and Founder of Enable IndiaFoundation. She is the Founder of Enable India Foundation- a Communication Praxis as well as of RAVISION- Film production house specializing in developmental communication. With over two decades of experience in developmental/social communication; she has made myriad programmes on various subjects for many organizations both government and non-government including television serials; films, public service messages et al`. Her endeavour has always been to make media products, which help create an environment conducive for change. However, women, children, contemporary history, culture and environment are recurring themes. She is also a “Fellow” of the Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD), an international network working for sustainable development and has organized and participated in various studies, workshops and seminars on climate change mitigation, gender and forestry and sustainable futures. She had also been the festival director for ‘Paryavaran Parade’a festival of films made on mobile phones preceded by a workshop on how to make the films held for slum children were much appreciated. She has also co-directed Men and Boys for Gender Justice Film Festival 2014. She has conceived, organized and directed the ‘Peace Builders International Film Festival’at India International Centre 10-13th October 2016, celebrating women’s role and contribution as keepers and builders of peace within the family, community and at the national and international levels. A special screening of her selected works was also held, as part of the proceedings in Toronto at the first ever environmental film and video festival ‘Planet In Focus’. Her film “UNPOSH TELI YELI WAN POSH” (You will get your Bread only if the forests last)a film on how violence and militancy has not only affected human lives in Kashmir but also our environment. This film has been screened internationally in major film festivals in UK & USA in 2005/06. Aradhana works with school students in outreach programmes to enhance environmental literacy amongst them, especially with underprivileged children from slums. She also supports the Indian cancer society and Aadi and other non government organizations by contributing towards their communication goals.

- Entry to all the venues, watching films and attending panel discussions during the film festival – INR 100 per person per day [Not required for teams/members who have submitted films in the festival]
- Entry to master class/workshop and curated session of films during the festival – INR 200 per person per workshop or session [Applicable on all participants]
- Prior deposition of entry fees is welcome though entry will be allowed till the time of vacancy
