CIFFI is the International Film Festival of India being organised by Delhi Metropolitan Education – DME (www.dme.ac.in) of India in association with Deakin University (www.deakin.edu.au) of Australia.

DME is a premier educational institute located in Noida in National Capital Region (NCR) of India and affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi.

Deakin University is one of the biggest public universities of Australia located in Melbourne.

The first addition of CIFFI was held on April 17-20, 2019 in DME campus while Deakin University authorities and Australian filmmakers joined both in online and offline mode.

This year CIFFI is being organised on the central theme Cinema ‘n Covid-19 Impact revolving around a paradigm shift in cinema in view of the spread of the coronavirus since March 2020. Amid COVID-19, cinema viewers have apparently shifted from traditional motion picture to OTT and online streaming platforms for cinema and entertainment. CIFFI will explore and deliberate on these changes through various screening sessions, workshops and masterclasses by eminent experts.

An alumnus of prestigious institutes like RMIT University—Melbourne, AJK Mass Communication Research Centre—Jamia MilliaIslamia and St. Stephens College—Delhi University, India, Dr. Vikrant Kishore is an Academician, Filmmaker, Journalist, and a Photographer. He has been associated as a Lecturer, Filmmaker, Photographer, News Correspondent and Media Consultant with various institutes and organizations like Channel 7, Deakin University-Australia, December Films, ABC Channel (Australia), Channel 31, Delhi University, ZEE TV, ZEE NEWS, BRAMWEL-DRACHE, Delhi Press, Heuschen&Schrouff (Netherlands) and Imaginations Ink (USA). Dr. Kishore is a member of international professional and cultural bodies like Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR, India), International Dance Council (CID-UNESCO), Consultancy Development Centre (CDC-INDIA), and ANCT-France. Dr. Kishore has more than 25 documentaries, and corporate films to his credit, and his area of expertise are Bollywood Films, the folk and tribal culture of Eastern India, as well as the issues of caste politics in India. His documentaries on ‘Chhau Dance’ have been screened in various international film festivals.

Mr Simon Wilmot, Associate Head of School (International and Partnerships), School of Communication and Creative Arts, Faculty of Arts and Education, Deakin University, Melbourne. Simon teaches film production and is the Course Co-ordinator of the Masters of Digital Film. He also runs international study experiences for film students such as study tours to India and the USA and opportunities for students to make films in international contexts. He is currently interested in making films about processes of memory and imagination in the construction of identity and a sense of belonging. From 2003 to 2005 he produced, filmed and edited a documentary feature, ‘Kotla Walks, performing locality.’ The film engages with metropolitan meanings in India through wandering the streets, footpaths, courtyards, bedrooms and sitting rooms of the urban village of KotlaMubarakpur. Simon teaches film production and is the Course Co-ordinator of the Masters of Digital Film. Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhury, Pro Vice Chancellor of Adamas University, Kolkata. As a happy resident of Greenwood Sonata, he loves to travel and meet people who sadly have taken a beating in these pandemic times. His hobbies are reading, writing, ideating and public speaking. He writes in several newspapers and portals and appears in TV and webinar debates and discussions. Currently he is the Pro Vice Chancellor of Adamas University in Kolkata. Earlier he has worked as the media Dean of Symbiosis and Amity universities, Pearl Academy and Whistling Woods institutes. Prof. Chowdhury is involved in making documentaries on socially relevant issues. He has made awarded documentaries for WHO and The Nippon Foundation.

Dr Gauri D. Chakravorty Joint Acting Head, Amity School of Communication, Amity University, Noida, An alumnus of FTII. She graduated from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and has been a part of the Audio-Video Industry since 1995. With the distinction of being awarded ‘Dada Saheb Phalke’ Memorial Student Award along with a scholarship at FTII, she has worked with prestigious institutions like BBC WST & DD Metro. She was the Associate Producer for the award winning film ‘Sheep Thief’ (1997). At present, Gauri heads the Amity School of Communication in Noida. She has been a media educator for the last 13 years and her research interests are Feminist film theory, spectatorship studies and female auteurs. Trained in ‘Kathak – Indian Classical Dance’ by world renowned maestro, Guru Jitendra Maharaj, Gauri founded the social movement Vansh Vyom which relooks at traditional arts from the point of view of matriarchal inheritance. In 2018, she was awarded Womennovator 100 Women Faces. She has been the Festival Director of the 15^th edition of the IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival 2019.

Mr Kanwar Deepak Gulati, a renowned theatre and film practitioner is one of the pioneers of the Street Theatre Movement in India. A member of the Film Writers Association, Mr. Gulati is a writer, actor and director of many fictional and non-fictional short films, serials and Ad films. He has produced more than 200 documentaries, Ad films, corporate films and training films and around 6,000 radio programs in different languages. During COVID-19 lockdown, Mr Gulati wrote and directed 8 short films which are available on YouTube.

Kajal Suri, acclaimed actor, theatre artist and broadcaster. She is a recipient of Best Actress award 7 times from the Government of Jammu And Kashmir. She is a recipient of Sur Aradhana Award for her contribution in the field of art and culture. She is also a recipient of Akashwani Annual Award for her production. She has received 10^th National Women Excellence Award in 2017. She has participated in many theatre festivals as director and actress across the country. She has produced, written, directed and acted in 400+ TV Serials, TV Plays, tele-films and documentaries for Doordarshan.
